Understanding the lifetime of porous alloys

Research focus

The project studied high-temperature corrosion of alloy powders and sintered porous alloys. Its aim was to develop an oxidation lifetime model that accounts for composition and microstructure.

Methods and materials

The work examined porous Fe-Cr alloys, stainless-steel powders, oxidation-induced changes in pore structure, and joining materials. X-ray tomographic microscopy and modelling help connect the evolving microstructure with long-term degradation.

My role

I was the principal investigator of the project, which had a budget of 1,977,000 PLN.

Research outputs

Publications cover oxidation lifetime prediction, tomography of porous alloys, pre-oxidation treatments, and modelling of microstructure evolution. Selected papers are listed on the publications page.
